Sonic Forces is a platform game which was released on the 25th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. Sonic the Hedgehog joins the Forces to fight against the enemy, Doctor Eggman.
The exceptional graphic design of the Sonic Forces game is the highlight of the game. The precise use of vibrant colors and the perfect projection of the elements showcase the perfection and dedication of the designers. Along with this, the peppy background music compels users to indulge completely in the game. Whether you like the gameplay or not, you will definitely fall in love with mind-blowing visuals in the Sonic Forces.
The gameplay of Sonic Forces is about the mission of Sonic the Hedgehog to defeat the cruel Doctor Eggman and his robot army by deploying sci-fi techniques and utilizing deadly weapons. There are basically three gaming modes in the game – Classic, Modern, and Avatar. All the game modes feature different game settings.
Classic Sonic is a side-scrolling game wherein the gameplay looks like that of Sega Genesis. To gain speed, the protagonist performs a spin dash and drop dash on the ground and mid-air respectively. To experience continuous gaming without obstructions, opt for Classic Sonic. Modern Sonic is the gameplay in 3D mode. It is similar to Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colors. You can perform stunts, attack the enemies, and boost speed by accumulating White Wasps. The Avatar gameplay lets you customize the character from the base of seven animal types, each of them possessing a unique quality. Except for Classic Sonic, you switch between side-scrolling and third-person perspectives without any issues. Further, the game contains several levels in these gaming modes.
In all the gaming modes, your purpose is to defeat the enemies. In the Classic Sonic mode, there is side-scrolling perspective whereas, in Modern Classis and Avatar mode, there are two perspectives – side-scrolling and third-person.
Along with defeating the enemies, your purpose is to maintain your health. This can be done by collecting health rings. When you are hit, you will lose a ring and if all rings are finished, the player will be killed.
Replay Value: 4.5
The intriguing gameplay, superb 3D graphics, and three amazing game modes instigate users to purchase Sonic Forces. Along with this, you have various tasks to accomplish in the game such as collecting weapons, maintaining your health, tackling enemies with your fighting skills, eliminating the robots from the Doctor Eggman army, and accumulating precious points. Further, you can also unlock various accessories and clothes when you accomplish tasks in the game. These all aspects of the game elevate the replay value of Sonic Forces.
To conclude, we can mention that Sonic Forces is a brilliant addition to the Sonic series. The game’s stunning visuals and the freedom to customize the characters are worth the praise. Further, the soundtrack also deserves a mention.
But, the level design and missions are not compelling enough as they seem to be repetitive. There is not something unique about Sonic Forces that differentiate from the previous editions. Further, the ranking system is more focused on completing the missions rather than working on other parameters such as accumulating collectibles.
Sonic Forces is a successful torchbearer in the Sonic series. You can purchase the game for an immersive gaming experience.
Pros : Captivating visuals & vivid colors
Unique game modes
Cons : Missions look repetitive
Poor rewarding system
